I think it’s Donna Haraway who proposed the alternate name “Cthulucene” to point to the epoch’s horrific, tentacular, and more than slightly apocalyptic character. And Kathryn Yusoff’s “A Billion Black Anthropocenes or None” extends the decolonial case further to focus on the Atlantic Triangle and question the notion of spikes, golden or otherwise, by highlighting the actual puncturing of physical, cultural, and ecological bodies.
